A Short History Ashbourne United FC started out as Brailsford FC who, after playing a series of Friendly matches joined a local summer league in 1954. At this stage games were hosted on a pitch adjacent to the local village hall. In 1962 as the club progressed they joined the Derby Sunday League and then moved into Saturday Football in 1967. The club gained league and cup honours before they were promoted in 1978 into the Derbyshire Premier Division which later became known as the Central Midlands League. The club continued to grow and reached several cup finals before winning the Central Midlands League Division One. In 1992 a change in League rules regarding facilities left the club with no option but to seek pastures new. The Midland Regional Alliance beckoned and in their first season the Reserve team were promoted to the first division. The following year the club expanded to three Senior teams with the formation of an "A" Team. In 1994 first team games began to be played at Millfield the home of Rocester FC. Several successful seasons in the MRA resulted in a Championship win in 2000-2001 and the runners up spot a year later together with a number of Cup Final appearances. Recent Years 2003 & 2004 saw the teams competing in the same leagues. The first team were finalists in The WMRL League Cup Losing 2-0 to Bilston Town. The Reserve Team won the Derbyshire Junior Cup for the first time and The A Team were Uttoxeter & District Sunday League Division 2 Champions. The club are currently celebrating their 50th anniversary and are active members of the Ashbourne Football Partnership.
